And now, the end is near, the Freak Show calls its final curtain…

It seems like the worst of all possible worlds for the troupe, with Dandy having taken control of of the Cabinet of Curiosities, and he wastes no time making his present felt. American Horror Story: Freak Show Ep 11 – Magical Thinking

Warning – contains spoilers for previous episodes!

At the end of last episode Orphans things looked particularly bad for Jimmy, but fret not as the opening of Magical Thinking has him alive and with fingernails intact! That’s mainly because it’s two days before that cliffhanger though, and the form this year doesn’t mean things will end up predictably…

Case in point, as a travelling lizard salesman called Chester Creb becomes a very late-joining character and wants to join the carnival. He may also be a ventriloquist and magician, but with all that’s happened thus far then to gain integration – and to turn both Bette and Dot’s heads romantically while doing so – surely he’d have to be pretty much legendary?

American Horror Story: Freak Show Ep 10 – Orphans

Warning – contains spoilers for previous episodes!

Following last week’s bloodbath – in both metaphorical and literal senses – there’s a slight change of pace this week as the focus turns to Salty and Pepper, and one of the few characters to link to any prior season of American Horror Story. But as the season comes to the sharp end, is that an indication of yet another character for the chop?

American Horror Story: Freak Show Ep 9 – Tupperware Party Massacre

Warning – contains spoilers for previous episodes!

Yep, so this week it’s the little-known sequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, terrorising kitchen suppy sales… well, maybe not, but even more than last week it’s a title that brings more dread than a tolling cloister bell!

American Horror Story - Freak ShowIt’s not a good week for Jupiter’s equivalent of Desperate Housewives, as what should be an entertaining gathering with storage products on sale and other, er, benefits, becomes memorable in more than one wrong way. And as the concept of separation becomes more real for Bette and Dot, do they both want to go through with it?

American Horror Story: Freak Show Ep 8 – Blood Bath

Warning – contains spoilers for previous episodes!

Uh oh, that’s an ominous title isn’t it – doesn’t bode well for our characters given the already high bodycount this series!

Suspicions have been running high in the extended family of the carnival recently, and in the wake of Ma Petite’s disappearance they start to boil over with Ethel’s view of Elsa really shaken, and an explosion seems inevitable.

Meanwhile in the Mott household, a concerned Gloria airs some of her concerns about Dandy following his descent into violence in a therapy session, but is her protectiveness of him at the same time as allowing others to know of his madness a recipe for disaster?

And as the troupe sees a new addition in Barbara aka Ima Wiggles (Chrissy Metz), are we heading for a horror trope of late-in, soon-out?

American Horror Story: Freak Show Ep 7 – Test Of Strength

Warning – contains spoilers for previous episodes!

It’s unlikely to be a surprise to most given its title that this episode involves strongman Dell Toledo quite heavily – pun not intended – though he’s far from being the sole focus as the impressive juggling of the ensemble in the series continues. (OK, maybe that one was). But given how everybody appears at risk from nasty demises, is his ability enough to keep him safe or is he next in line?

American Horror Story: Freak Show – Episodes 1-6

I have to open with a confession – up until I started watching this fourth season of American Horror Story a couple of days ago, I hadn’t managed to watch any of the series at all. A fan of the genre and the concept of a series that could deal with completely different types of horror from year to year, I’ve been keeping spoiler-free too so was going in entirely cold. And I have to say, first impressions have been very good!
