Red Dwarf XI – Give and Take

Another episode of Red Dwarf and another abandoned space station for the boys to explorer.  While this has been a limit of the shows format at least this time it’s atmospherically realized and the big bad on the station, Professor Asciepius, is also a bit more gritty than the show normally conjurers up.  The counter to this is the rather retro robot they find on the station which is so over the top it jars slightly.

Class Drops On BBC Three This October!

Coal Hill acts like a beacon across all of space and time to any being who might want to use it for mischief….you’ll have to be on your guard.

Class

The wait is over! Today BBC Three confirm the new YA drama, Class, written by Patrick Ness, will drop its first two episodes on BBC Three on Saturday 22 October.

Peter Capaldi will join the cast of exciting new talent in the opening episode of the series, For Tonight We Might Die. Coal Hill School holds some very dark and deadly secrets in its shadows….but who will survive?  (more…)

Fear is coming, tragedy is coming, war is coming. Oh and also a Class cast live stream!

The cast of Class will appear in a global Class Live Stream on Friday 23 September, available on the Class official Facebook page and starts at 4:30pm BST.

Class

Radio 1Xtra DJ A.Dot will host the Class Live Stream and will be joined by exciting young new talents Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah, as well as Class producer Derek Ritchie. The Live Stream will also be available on the BBC Three YouTube channel.

To get involved you can post your questions for the cast and Derek on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat by responding to the official Class social media channels or use the hashtag #AskClass.

Her are the official Class social media channels:

Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who Universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. All the time traveling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into Shadow.

Fear is coming, tragedy is coming, war is coming. Prepare yourselves, Class is coming.

As Class is a young adult show and will not be suitable for younger viewers. (But fear not as the Christmas special is less than 100 days away and series 10 is coming next Easter).

Class will premiere on BBC Three this Autumn and Outpost Skaro have lined up a special YA to review it here and on our youtube channel (stay tuned!).

This would have been… Fantastic! Storyboards showing the 9th Doctor in the 50th

A while back Moffat revealed that the War Doctor wasn’t originally in the 50th. His role instead would have been played by the 9th Doctor (Sadly things didn’t work out so we never got a return appearance from Christopher Eccleston).

But we do have a tiny tease about how it would have looked thanks to artist Andrew Wildman, who has released some of the storyboards.

First the good news….

Well after months of silence we have official word that we are indeed getting Doctor Who in 2016, with the confirmation of the 2016 Christmas Special.

Steven Moffat

The Alert among you, or anyone who follows our twitter feed who read about it months ago, will have deduced that this means the Christmas special will sadly be all the Doctor Who we get (but expect the Doctor to turn up in other places to help with Doctor Withdrawal).  However there are some other positives to offset this less than fantastic news.

Firstly S10 will be Moffat’s last.  He’s been holding the reins for well over half a decade and he’s not quite done yet as he still needs to write, make and promote S10.  But with the end of one era we also get the start of something new with Chris Chibnall taking over as show runner.  The Broadchurch writer is a huge Doctor Who fan and has already written for the show.

As these rumors have been doing the rounds for a while (although other names were in and out the frame) it’s good that things are clear now.   We’re all hoping here that Peter Capaldi can be tempted to stay on to have a smooth transition that’s less abrupt than the complete shake up that S5 was (not that S5 was bad by any means).

But in the meantime thank you Mr Moffat, you are leaving a tough target for Chris Chibnall to hit but we’re sure he’s well capable of blowing a TARDIS sized hole right in the middle of it!  Geronimo!

The end times are coming!?! Or everything old will be new again.

With Peter Capaldi and show runner Steven Moffat both talking about their respective exits this week (here and here)  it’s starting to look like S11 will see a new Doctor and production team.  At this time S10’s air date hasn’t been confirmed but with a later start to production it’s either going to be split between 2016/17 or air in 2017 (probably back in it’s Easter slot). Capaldi Rocks

Although some may take Peter’s comments about this being his last year as meaning he’ll regenerate in the Xmas Special.  We hope not as Capaldi’s Doctor took it to another level this year and he deserves at least one more full season.

As always with Doctor Who the exit of the old team means the entrance of the new team and a big shakeup to the show.  Could this be the time for the first female Doctor?

Gone but not forgotten, bonus Clara content from the BBC!

The BBC may have just ripped your heart out through your tear ducts (probably to prepare you for oncoming Cyber-conversion) but they’re not completely without mercy.  To help you fill that small but upbeat Jenna Coleman sized hole they’ve generated some excellent content to distract you.  It’s the end but the moment has been prepared for, as they say.

Impossible Jigsaw

Relive the most heroic moments from the Doctor’s latest companion.  Or listen to Jenna reflecting on working with Peter Capaldi. But if you need humor to heal then this gag reel of Jenna’s outtakes may help.

Perhaps you need to move on and embrace a universe without Clara, if so then braveheart faithful reader and watch the trailer for this weeks episode.

Four Color Fall

DC superhero TVLive action superhero shows are not a new idea – versions have existed almost as long as there have been comics to inspire them. Over the last 80+ years, there have been numerous attempts to bring our four-colour heroes to a mass audience, with many of the characters and concepts from the comics having found their way to the movies, serials and tv shows.
