August Bank Holiday weekend, and putting excitement for Series 9 on the back burner for a few days, it was time for the annual visit to the Dark Heart of Cinema that is Film4 Frightfest 2015.
And what a visit it was! Nearly 80 films across 6 screens (one of which was at the Prince Charles, taking the fest back to its roots), variety, shocks, jumps, and the Film4 screen melting both for an air conditioning failure at one point but then for a hamster having a Wrath of Khan moment…
Huge thanks as always are due to Paul, Ian, Alan and Greg, plus the staff at the Vue and all those other festivalgoers (especially in the Film4 screen!) who make Frightfest such a great experience.
With it being such a packed fest, it means a bumper set of Skaro Awards, so here’s a few to start with…
Skaro Awards – Film4 Frightfest 2015
Top 5 Main Screen films (alphabetical) – A Christmas Horror Story, Deathgasm, Night Fare, Scherzo Diabolico, Turbo Kid
Bottom 2 Main Screen films (alphabetical) – Some Kind of Hate, Cherry Tree
Best use of Time Lord tech – William Shatner being nearly 84 making A Christmas Horror Story and not looking close to it!
Nastiest Torture –
Bait The air conditioning failure at the Vue
Best festival spirit by an inanimate object – the sign to the downstairs Gents:
Check back at Halloween for many more to come!
